Novella – Standalone
I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color.
Same legs.
Same face.

Except…I look harder.
At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.

This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.
It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.

Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.

Amelia Ryan is the sweet, responsible, shy, and conservative twin. Her sister, Lucy is the wilder, more assertive, and flirtier one. When Lucy begs Amelia to pull a twin switch to go out with one of her dates, Amelia is resistant. But Lucy manages to get her way.

Dante "Dash" Amado was not expecting much from this date and was only going through with it since she asked him out. But he is not really interested in the aggressive jock charmer, Lucy. So he is surprised that she seems different. He actually likes her on this date and is observant and uncovering new things about her that actually interest him. He is not a typical jock--he is smart, charming, kind, and a gentleman. And she seems to like him. But he knows there is something to this situation that he is missing, and cannot quite figure out what to make of her hot and cold behavior.

Amelia finds herself in a bad situation with no easy fixes. She is not so aptly pretending to be her sister, but likes him herself. And he does not even know she really exists. What's a girl to do? I enjoyed the differences between the twin's personalities and Dante's attempts to make sense of it all.

This is a short, sweet novella that can be read as a stand-alone, but is also a prequel to her new Jock Hard series (it was also part of the Team Player anthology). This is the first I have read from Sara Ney, but her style was engaging and drew me in. It is told in dual points of view and I liked the characters and story. I just wish it was a little longer so we got more with them. I was surprised when I hit the end and I was not ready for it. I hope we see more of Amelia and Dante pop up in the new series.

I was gifted a copy.

Amelia Ryan is the less outgoing, quieter twin. Her sister Lucy is the life of the party, always after a new guy. When Lucy finds herself with two dates in one night, she enlists the help of her sister rather than canceling -- she hasn’t decided if she’s done with either guy yet.

Dante “Dash” Amado is going on this third date with Lucy only because she asked him. They haven’t had much chemistry on their first two dates and he isn’t expecting much from this one either. Except when she wanders onto her own front porch when he arrives to pick her up, he sense something different about Lucy. He just can’t put his finger on what the difference is.

Amelia doesn’t like to play the twin switch game, but once she is on the date with Dash she finds that they have a lot in common and he checks a lot of her boxes. The problem is, she isn’t herself and needs to remember to act like her sister or the gig is up. She is caught between a rock and a hard place as the night wears on -- loyalty to her sister, and interest in Dash.

I enjoyed the direction of this story. It is a quick novella and was over before I was ready. In fact, I was rather surprised by the speed at which the conflict was resolved at the end. This was previously published in an anthology and can stand alone, but also sets up a new series. I haven’t read anything else by this author, but this little taste is enough that I will give the new series a shot and check out her previous works as well.
